I am the sleepless generation.

Well, I guess I now belong to the sleepless generation.  I'm still waking at 5:30 am for work and to prepare for the onrush of the days.

I've already showered, dressed, had breakfast at the hotel, got updates on Hurricane Barry, the flooding in the South, immigration raids, read the Sioux City newspaper, shopped the Sunday ads, talked to a boy vacationing with his family about how he has a book on recognizing animal scat in the woods, learned all about the woman working at the front desk of the hotel...

Meanwhile the generation above me sleeps peacefully across the hall, and the generation below me sleeps the sleep of the dead, of youth...

I have become the sleepless generation...
