Leaving Yellowstone, Entering Grand Teton

We left Gardiner, Montana this morning and drove the length of Yellowstone, entering from the North Entrance and leaving out the South Entrance.  We got stopped by constuction on the loop road for long enough we all got out of our cars and walked around.  Here's some more beautiful wildflowers from the side of the road.

Once we got going again, we continued south trying to make it to see Old Faithful erupt.  This is a part of the park that is completely different than the rest. So many people!  We didn't enjoy the chaos after being in the serenity of nature.    But we made it to Old Faithful with about 5 minutes to spare before the eruption.

I really wanted to see the Grand Prismatic but the line on the road was so long and there was no place to park that would allow all of us to get to view it.  Plus, there are 3 miles of boardwalks around the Geyser basin.  So, next time...

Just past the South entrance to Yellowstone is the entrance to Grand Teton National Park.  I think these majestic mountains sitting beside Lake Jackson is the prettiest place I've ever seen.  Lake Tahoe used to be my prettiest spot, but it's been eclipsed.  By the time we were driving along side them, it had started to rain.

There is a spot along the way called Mormon Row.  You'll see calendars with the beautiful scenes of the barns built in the 1800s with the Tetons in the background.  We visited this spot, but the rain didn't cooperate so our pictures are not as spectacular as they could have been.

We drove through Jackson Hole and Jackson, Wyoming and reached our stopping spot of Pinedale, Wyoming for a late dinner.  It's a cute little town and we're staying at the Log Cabin Motel, an historic landmark.

We're hitting the road to home tomorrow and hoping we can do it in two days.

Goodnight.
